Originally from the Chicagoland area, Andrea Trombetta is an artist and educator who received her BA in Studio Art & her MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Fabric Design and Performance from the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art. Professor Trombetta currently teaches Ideation and Methodologies, Art Appreciation, Cultural Diversity in American Art, Three-Dimensional Design, Textile Foundations and Material Futures at UGA in the School of Art and has also taught at Oglethorpe University, University of North Georgia + Athens Technical College. Trombetta has exhibited her work both nationally + internationally in France, Iceland, Japan and Morocco.
Andrea Trombetta has an active studio practice as a performance and fiber artist, living in Athens, GA with her daughter, Isabella Rose. “My research explores the body as media, materiality and site specificity. I strive to produce mysterious and innovative works of art that invite others to connect with reality or illusion. Through performative action I create conceptual and body-oriented art in order to share visions, observations and the inevitable transitions of the human condition.”
